The following steps will help you set up your remote site so that you can view streams managed by Quorum Stream servers at your remote site.

First you should install the Quorum Stream software on the server PC on your remote network. The server PC should meet the minimum specifications for Quorum Stream as outlined in the user manual.

Configure the firewall hardware protecting the remote network where the Quorum Stream server is located. The following ports should be opened and re-directed to the LAN IP address of the server PC running Quorum Stream.

  • The Web Server port that was set up when configuring Quorum Stream e.g. 80, 8001, 8002, 8003, 8004 or 8005.
  • The RTSP port that was set up when configuring Quorum Stream e.g. 554, 7001, 7002, 7003, 7004, 7005.
  • The Web services port for Quorum Stream remote control: 25776.

Caution: if there is a software firewall installed on the server PC running Quorum Stream then the ports listed above must also be opened here.

Determine the WAN IP address of the remote network where the Quorum Stream server is located. You can often find this out by examining the WAN status information of the router at the remote site, or by using a PC at the remote site and visiting a web page that details a viewing browser's IP address such as http://www.myipaddress.com/.

Using the configuration web pages of the remote Quorum Stream server:

  • Add the video sources that Quorum Stream should manage.
  • Create transcoding sessions from those video sources.

At the local site, using Quorum View:

  • In the Configuration View, add a Quorum Stream device. Use the WAN IP address of the Quorum Stream server. Alternatively, if there is a domain name entry the represents the remote network's router, then you can enter this name in place of the WAN IP address.
  • In the Cameras View, fully open up the device tree elements for the Quorum Stream device, then drag one of the sessions you created earlier to a video pane to watch the stream session.

Once the Quorum Stream device has been added, you can select the name of the Quorum Stream device in the Configuration View, then click Configure to open the Quorum Stream configuration web pages. You can then, for example, create more sessions or manage your Quorum Stream server remotely. Remember to close the configuration web pages before continuing to work with Quorum View.
